Dr René Värk is expert on international law with more than three decades of academic and practical experience. He has taught and researched international law in civilian and military academic institutions in several states. Värk has authored two books and more than 80 articles on different issues of international law. He has represented Estonia at various international organisations and conferences, and has participated in treaty negotiations. Värk has for years been military legal advisor (either as regular or reserve officer) and has served as peacekeeper with the United Nations. He has experience with law enforcement context as auxiliary police officer. Värk is comfortable with operating in multi-national environments as well as in conflict areas. He has implemented advisory and training projects for governmental authorities and non-state entities in various regions. Värk has been appointed twice as a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration.
